The Timpanogos Storytelling Festival is run by a non-profit organization; The Friends of the Orem Public Library, in order to conserve and promote the art of storytelling. The festival was founded in 1989 as a fund raising event by Karen Ashton. It is celebrated on Labor Day weekend in the month of August or September in Orem, Utah in the United States.
The festival generally lasts two days and the competent story tellers from all over the country are invited to exhibit their skill. The festival is dependent on donations given by businessmen, individuals and community groups such as the Golden Kiwanis, American Legion, Kiwanis, the Boys and Girl Scouts, the Utah Storytelling Guild, youth groups and student clubs. It has emerged into the National Festival of the West. In addition to the story telling event, the visitors can also attend story telling workshops, enjoy music and merriment.
