The Johnny Appleseed Festival is held to pay tribute to John Chapman. A number of Johnny Appleseed Festival occurs in the month of September or October in the United States. One such festival is celebrated in the third weekend of September in Fort Wayne, Indiana in the United States. It first begun with just 20 vendors in 1974.
The festival traditionally showcases crafts, food and historical demonstrations which celebrates the time of John Chapman. There are activities for all ages whether children or adult. There is authentic pioneer clothing, live entertainment, crafts, fruit and vegetable stalls in the farmer’s market area, toys, antiques, odds and ends, apple pie eating contest, story telling, face painting, wagon rides, fireworks, wine tasting contest, temporary tattoos and much more.
