The Jaisalmer Desert Festival was started to enhance foreign tourism by exhibiting rich culture of Rajasthan. It is celebrated during the month of January or February in the city of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan in India.

The festival is celebrated for three days and lots of camels gather here to present a beautiful show on the sands of the desert. Rajasthani men and tall beautiful women dressed in their bright costumes dance and sing lingering ballads of romance, tragedy, and valor.

Various competitions are held during the festival such as desert contest, turban tying contest, puppet show, traditional folk music, camel races, dance performances, snake charmers, setting up of crafts shops and many other artistic skills performed by the local artisans.
