Chapchar Kut celebrates the onset of spring season. It is celebrated during the month of March in Mizoram in India. It is a tribal festival celebrated in all Mizo villages.
The tribal community performs local dances wearing colorful traditional clothes and hat made from parrots’ feather and beads during the seven days event. Farmers cut bamboo forests to make place for seasonal harvesting.
Any types of shoes are not worn by them. A traditional bamboo dance is performed where only women can participate and men beat bamboo against each other while sitting on the ground.
