The Aloha Festival created in 1946 is the cultural celebration of Hawaii’s dance, music, and history with an intention to preserve unique Hawaii traditions. It is one of Hawaii’s largest six week festivals that take place in September and October in Hawaii State in the United States.
The festival is celebrated across six of the islands- Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Lanai, The Big Island of Hawaii and Molokai Island. On each island, celebrations begin with “Oahu”, where a king, prince, princess, queen and attendants are selected from Hawaiian descent. The event includes competitions such as sports, floral parades, traditional rituals, pageantry in native costume, song, music and dance.
